Tonight, Ballycran held a vigil for the late Ashling Murphy that was contemplative, reflective, sensitive and engaging as our community came together to express our sympathy for the Murphy family’s loss and wider circle of relations and friends with solidarity in our conviction to have a safer environment for all women in our communities.
Mark Egan, Club Chairperson, thanked everyone for attending and introduced Paula McKeown who read our evening prayer. This was followed by a procession around the main pitch by a senior hurler (Liam Savage) and senior camogie player (Ciara McCarthy) to signify a journey of hope for all woman to be able to feel safe in any space.
Ballycran would like to thank everyone for attending our very special evening and a huge thanks to Paula, Peter Finnegan (sound), Jeremy Rodgers (services), the hurling committee, Emma and Marguerite and the Parish of Ardkeen for their generous use of the votives and candles.
