Back to training around the Park

It’s been awhile since we heard the collective cacophony of juvenile voices, coaches hollering instructions and the thud of a sliotar on the Hurley stick out at McKenna Park, but this week had it all in abundance.  Importantly, the weather was outstanding for our return to training.

It’s been a difficult task to arrange all of the teams safely out onto the fields and credit has to go to Declan Ennis and his coaching structure for their tremendous total wrap around engagement with everyone.  Also, a special thanks to all of our parents that understood and followed our Croke Park mandate of absolutely no spectating around the Park – as our County board said, it’s a deal breaker.  We know that’s a difficult ask, especially when it comes to the very young ones, but you’ve been very understanding and trusting of our coaching teams.  Last but not least, thanks to our Covid team of volunteers that have manned the car park and tried to anticipate the nuances of drop off/pickup logistics for so many teams in a small arena, so that we can fulfil our obligations to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Here’s a bunch of photographs that don’t need many words to say how enjoyable the week has been.  Spot anyone you know?

And as the sun went down on Wednesday evening, we wish Corrie Smyth good luck with the imminent delivery and look forward to seeing her and the new born around the Park and ready for training in the not too distant future.

On Thursday night it was the hurlers turn…
