U12 Camogie squad dodge the rain at their Leitrim blitz

On a day with a heavy sky and forecasted downpours, Leitrim’s very well organised camogie blitz managed to stay dry for the entire duration, helping to top off a great outing deep between the hills of Dromara and the Mourne Mountains. The blitz was built around groups, allocated to pitches with a defined starting and finishing time marked by a hooter. Fifteen minutes straight with no restrictions on solo running helped the pace of play and with great skills on display from all of the teams.

Ballycran were in Group B along with Darragh Cross, An Riocht and Warrenpoint. Playing on the main pitch (alongside the clubrooms), the girls wasted no time in getting stuck in and enjoyed their three matches, with everyone playing well. To top off the day, the president of the Camogie Association, Hilda Breslin, visited the blitz with the O’Duffy Cup (current holders Kilkenny) and the girls managed to get their picture taken with this important historical piece of silverware.

Thanks to Liatroim Fontenoys for their hospitality and everyone that travelled to make the event a great success.  Here are some photos from the day…
